The Palmer MONICON XL is an active studio monitor controller built to be the central switching point for sources and speakers in any studio. Its ergonomic console layout puts source and speaker selection on two clearly separated rows of buttons, so switching between different signal sources and monitor pairs is a single press away.
Three analogue stereo inputs and one S/PDIF input feed three monitor outputs, each with its own level trim for matching different speaker pairs, plus a mono-summed full-range output for a subwoofer or mono monitor. A standout feature is the built-in correlation meter, which shows the phase relationship between the left and right channels of a stereo signal, making it easy to spot mono-compatibility problems in a mix. The controller can also be configured to match your own workflow.
Because the audio path is entirely analogue, the MONICON XL adds no latency or coloration to the signal. Two headphone outputs with their own volume controls and main/cue selectors, a cue-master control, and a switchable talkback microphone with adjustable level round out the feature set, alongside a mute switch and a Dim button that drops the monitor level by a preset amount at the touch of a button.
