Building on the reputation of the B26 Orca for sonic superiority, the B22 Orca Control Room Monitor daughter card brings the ultimate in control room monitoring to the B80 and B16 Mothership, using the same all-discrete, class-A circuit path philosophy as other BURL Audio products. Featuring BURL NextGen BOPA14 op-amps, the B22 delivers tight bass and high definition with a wider, more three-dimensional stereo image.
The B22 Orca employs 4 DAC channels: the first two are mix/mastering-grade channels with switchable BX5 output transformers, usable to feed a separate headphone amp, a mix/mastering chain, or to send tracks out for analog processing. The second two DAC channels feed the main monitor section, with two stereo speaker outputs and one stereo headphone output. Couple a B22 Orca with a B16 Mothership and a B4 MIC/LINE card for an audiophile desktop recording rig, or combine it with a B16 and a BAD4M for a 4-in x 4-out mastering solution.
Attenuator options: the B22 Orca ships with either the standard Alps audiophile attenuator, or the optional stepped 0.1% matched resistor attenuator (Elma) for lab-grade, perfectly recallable level settings - the Elma version carries a price premium over the standard Alps unit.
Chassis options: choose the B80 variant for the 8U, 20-slot Mothership chassis, or the B16 variant for the compact 1U, 4-slot chassis.

Alps vs. Elma Attenuator
The standard B22 Orca uses an Alps audiophile attenuator - smooth, high quality and the more affordable option. The Elma variant replaces it with a stepped 0.1% matched resistor attenuator: a lab-grade component that clicks between fixed, perfectly matched positions for sample-accurate level recall between sessions, at a higher price point. Both attenuator options are available for the B80 and B16 chassis.
