Omni SPL is a transformerless transistor-based circuit with custom tuned capsule. The capsule response is akin to having a High Shelf EQ (or "Air) added to your signal, but because it is tuned into the capsule response, your image depth is more accurate.
The Omni SPL is also very "friendly" with respects to phase coherency and and plays well with other microphones in the image.
