MEQ-2A Tube Equalizer
MEQ-2A Tube Equalizer
AudioScape's premium midrange tube EQ - now in stereo!
Coming in February!
The MEQ-2A is a 2U rackmount unit featuring two channels of the supremely sweet, inductor-based tube EQ circuit found in AudioScape's MEQ-A Midrange Equalizer, with a single set of controls for both channels. Last year, AudioScape introduced the EQP-2A - a stereo version of their EQP-A Passive EQ following the same principle - and now its midrange-focused sibling has joined the party!
Like the EQP-A, the MEQ-A is frequently ordered as a matched pair. In AudioScape's opinion, it’s well worth the rack space, but the 10U required for all four units is a lot to ask for all but the biggest studio spaces. Now customers can get the whole stereo package for a much more manageable 5U (in matching battleship grey!), or add the MEQ-2A on its own to any setup for two channels of truly peerless midrange EQ in just 2 rack spaces.
Note: The MEQ-2A is a stereo-only unit and AudioScape still recommends the MEQ-A for mono applications and matched pairs of MEQ-As for multi mono use.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEQ-2A IS DEEPER THAN THE MEQ-A. THE MEQ-2A IS 13.25” (34cm) DEEP.
**NOTE: EURO VOLTAGE UNIT (230-240V)
**HASSLE-FREE 2-YEAR WARRANTY INCLUDED!

Product Description
POWERFUL, COLORFUL, BEAUTIFULLY SMOOTH TUBE EQUALIZER; A TRUE SLEEPER, BUILT THE AUDIOSCAPE WAY
A STEREO MEQ-5 MIDRANGE EQUALIZER
It’s no coincidence that the MEQ-A was one of the first AudioScape products. The MEQ-5, introduced by Pulse Technologies as a program equalizer specifically targeting midrange frequencies, is a special design. Often overlooked next to its more famous elder sibling, the EQP-1A, the MEQ is not to be slept on - as those who know, know well!
The stereo MEQ-2A’s broad inductor-based bands, with 21 possible center frequencies between the three controls (affecting both channels), allow for a wide range of options for sculpting the all-important midrange. The unit's unique single-ended tube line amp, which provides the MEQ’s makeup gain, imparts a sweet, harmonically rich character to anything that passes through it. This makeup gain is worth the price of admission alone.
It is extremely difficult to make this circuit sound bad, even with bands pushed to the maximum - at frequencies that should *never* sound good when dimed. (4k, anyone?) Of course, that assumes the original circuit is done justice!
THE BEST MEQ-5 RECREATION IN ITS CLASS - NOW IN STEREO!
This is a true AudioScape circuit through and through, with a full complement of NOS tubes and period-correct components like carbon composition resistors to correctly match the very forgiving vintage character of this design. AudioScape uses custom-wound inductors and transformers, along with a high quality toroidal power supply to ensure longevity and reliability. This is the best quality MEQ unit customers can get without paying vintage or equivalent prices.
THE PERFECT “SHAPING” EQ FOR GUITAR BUSS, BASS GUITARS AND MORE
The smooth, forgiving nature of the MEQ-2A makes it a perfect tool for shaping guitars, especially high gain tones where high-mids very quickly become harsh and unpleasant. It also features a number of frequencies well-suited to bass guitar. A gentle boost at 700hz or 1khz lifts the tonal center of the instrument, while an upper peak at 3k adds bite to cut through denser mixes. Cut excessive mud or overtones at 300-500hz, and customers have a perfect, defined bass tone that can be molded to fit just about any track!
TUBE EQ = BETTER VOCALS.
The MEQ-2A is also a very useful tool on vocals, allowing users to hone in on key frequencies that flatter or veil certain voices. Now with a stereo unit, users can easily shape backing vocals and other stereo busses, dipping out presence frequencies to make room for leads while gently boosting areas that don’t overlap.
And with the ability to shape low-mids, cut overtones, and push upper-mids without harshness, users have an equally excellent toolkit for beefing up snares, enhancing toms, and even sculpting the overall drum bus sound.
Simply put, if users love the sound of analog EQ, this unit is an absolute must. It's hard to find a more pleasing, easy to use EQ than this - and AudioScape dares users to try to make it sound bad!
