MAP was born from the ashes of an earlier electronics manufacturer, Melcor® Industries. Melcor® pioneered the use of class A discrete op amps in audio processing gear, namely, their 1731® op-amp. When Melcor® abandoned the audio business around 1970, a group of their engineers carried on as Modular Audio Products, with the 1731® at the heart of their range of products.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe D.AM-27 is a sonically lush mic preamp based on the old Melcor® AM-27 design.
